Tips for using Monstertrak
1) Register and upload your resume first.
- Click on “Register/Upload Resume” as your very first step.
- This way you can create a username and password to make it quicker to log in the next time you use the system.
- Having your resume uploaded will allow recruiters & employers to find your resume and contact you
- Remember that you can upload multiple versions of your resume
2) Keep your search broad.
- If you don’t see any listings in one section, try another.
- For example, if you don’t find something of interest under “Arts, Media and Entertainment” you might want to try searching under “Business, HR, and Finance”. As another example, sometimes there are communications-related jobs at a corporation, so it might get listed under that category instead. The same rule applies for many other industries.
- Remember, different job functions are required in many different sectors. Always search in multiple areas!
3) Search for multiple types of positions.
- If you hold down the Control button, you can select multiple types of positions at the same time.
- For example, you can search for Part-Time jobs and Internships & Externships simultaneously.
- Some listings under part-time might really be internships, and some internship listings are really part-time jobs. So always look in as many places as possible!
4) Remember to check at least 1-2 times per week.
- Monstertrak is updated nearly everyday with new listings, so be sure to keep checking!
5) Be persistent!
- It takes time to find work, especially satisfying employment that is the right fit for your skills and interests.
- Be flexible and open to new experiences, but don’t waste your time applying for jobs that you really have no desire to take.
