Blackboard is a web –based course management system design to enhance course delivery, class communication, organization and presentation. Blackboard course sites enable faculty to:
- Share important class documents, such as a syllabus, handout, lecture notes, slides and etc.
- Host online synchronous and asynchronous discussions
- Post a calendar with assignment due dates and exam schedules
- Broadcast class announcements
- Enhance lessons with online videos, PowerPoint slides and more
- Collect and return assignments online
- Give tests that are automatically graded
- Post student grades for individual assignments in a secure environment
Blackboard can also be used for administrative tasks such as:
- Displaying announcements on a course site and sending e-mails to students enrolled in a particular course;
- Scheduling tasks and course deadlines in an online calendar;
- Submission and automatic receipting of electronic coursework submission;
- Administration of online tests and surveys
- Facilitating project and knowledge management between groups of staff.
Computer Labs and Classrooms
The computer lab facilities at
St. Francis College offer software and hardware required for instruction. Decisions regarding software and hardware acquisition and configuration are based on discussions with the individual department and/or faculty member and a recommendation from the Manager of Instructional Technology to the IT Department.
