Administrator Positions

Position: Academic Counselor/Instructor
Department: Freshman Studies & Academic Advisement
Reports to: Assistant Dean of Freshman Studies & Academic Enhancement
Job Summary: On a part-time basis, act as a resource for first and second year students by providing student-centered academic advising and relevant instruction. To ensure continuity of student progress, ideally those hired into this position can offer a minimum of a one-year commitment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as an Instructor for 3-4 sections of Freshmen Seminar Courses (Orientation class) during the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Provide student-centered academic advising to undergraduate students, with an emphasis on services to first year and second year students.
  • Assist students in the development of academic plans and class schedules. appropriate for their stated educational goals, guiding pre-majors in the selection of academic majors, and providing guidance in their career exploration process.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining case file and records in order to monitor progress of approximately 125 students.
  • Participate in the summer orientation of incoming students.
  • Stay abreast of the college’s rules and policies and direct students to resources within the College, as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Current enrollment in an accredited Masters degree program in the area of counseling, social work, or a related field preferred
  • Ability to work 20 hours over a minimum of 3 days a week
  • Strong communication/presentational and team building skills preferred

Position: Admissions Counselor (3 vacancies)

Job Summary: Responsible for the recruitment and evaluation of new and transfer students to St. Francis College
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assume major responsibility for the recruitment of qualified students to the College from High Schools and Community Colleges.
  • Establish contacts and maintain relationships with key personnel at secondary schools and community colleges and make regular visits to their institutions.
  • Conduct in-person interviews with potential students and their parents, both on and off campus.
  • Secure, develop, manipulate and maintain information, through use of the College’s student information system on the prospective student and applicant pools.
  • Evaluate applications and attendant materials submitted by candidates for Admissions, both freshman and transfer.
  • Assist new transfer students in the selection of an academic schedule and in the solution of other problems they confront in their initial semester.
  • Plan, develop, implement and oversee marketing, direct mail and other recruiting projects and events.
  • Communicate regularly via phone and email with assigned cohort of the    applicant pool to improve its enrollment yield.
  • Coordinate alumni involvement in the College’s recruiting efforts.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of all on-campus recruitment events.
  • Carry out other duties assigned by the Director of Admissions.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or B.A. Degree
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required
  • Willingness to travel regionally or locally; some overnight recruitment trips may be required.

St. Francis College is currently soliciting applications for an Assistant Director of Library Services to begin employment at the start of the Fall 2008 semester. Candidate review begins immediately, and the search will continue until the position is filled.

Position:
Assistant Director of Library Services
Department: Library
Reports to: Director of Library Services
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Job Summary: Assist the Director of Library Services and act as the principal administrator in the absence of the Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare schedules for all public service areas, ensuring that Reference and Circulation desks are fully staffed at all times.
  • Maintain master calendar upon which all absences are recorded.
  • Recruit, hire, orient, and train student workers and student volunteers. Maintain budget and payroll records for work-study and student assistant employees.
  • Prepare schedules and public service task assignments for student workers, ensuring that public service librarians and support staff have student assistance as needed.
  • Supervise operation of Periodicals dept, including checking in and processing of newly-received issues, collection development and maintenance, preservation, and claiming of missing issues.
  • Provide professional assistance to, and supervise, Interlibrary Loan Assistant.
  • Ensure that equipment and supplies needed to do their jobs are readily available to librarians and support staff.
  • Oversee development and maintenance of reference, electronic, and circulating collections in library liaison areas (Allied Health, Biology, Chemistry & Physics, Mathematics, Nursing)
  • Provide direct public service from Reference desk at least one hour per day.
  • Provide group library instruction and by-appointment individual research assistance for students in library liaison areas, the Honors program, and other subject areas as needed.
  • Participate in screening of resumes and interviewing of candidates for full-time and part-time professional and support staff positions
  • Supervise Interlibrary Loan personnel.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Library Services.  

Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree from an ALA accredited school of library/information science
  • A minimum of four years experience in an academic environment, and at least two years of supervisory experience are required. 
  • Excellent supervisory, interpersonal, and communications skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a collegial environment are essential.

Position: Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach
Department: Athletics
Reports to: Head of Men’s Basketball Coach & Director of Athletics
Job Summary: To assist in all phases of a Division I basketball program.  

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists the Head Coach in planning and conducting team practices; arranges practice schedules.
  • With input from the Director of Compliance, recruits prospective basketball student-athletes by organizing a recruiting program, performing recruiting services in accordance with applicable conference and NCAA regulations, passing the annual NCAA recruiting test, making presentations in prospective student-athletes’ homes, attending recruiting camps and shoot-outs, coordinating campus visits by prospective student-athletes and their families, evaluating prospective student-athletes and their families, evaluate prospective student-athletes in terms of their academic success, maintaining a comprehensive and up-to-date file of articles concerning the Athletic Program, conducting mail-outs to all prospective student-athletes.
  • Facilitates the academic progress of team members, including establishing and monitoring team study halls, distributing progress sheets to appropriate faculty members, arranging for tutors and other special academic support for team members who require or would benefit from this help and provide as liaison, as necessary, between student-athletes and their instructors.  Meets on a regular basis with the Faculty Athletic Representative for guidance and input.
  • Assumes major responsibility for scouting of opponents by facilitating film and video exchange, breaking down films and video for review and maintaining an accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date information book.
  • Coordinates and supervises all pre-season workouts and supervises the weight-training program.
  • Assists the Head Coach and Director of Athletics in establishing the team’s annual competition schedule by making preliminary calls to appropriate representatives of prospective competitors, proofing draft contest contracts and insuring the accuracy and completeness of tentative schedules, and conformity with Northeast Conference policies.
  • Assists the Director of Sports Information and Marketing in planning and conducting promotional activities on behalf of the team, including internet broadcasts, clinics, camps, special appearances, and others as directed.
  • Represents the college at meetings and to the media in the absence of the Head Coach.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Prior coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations

Position: Development Associate
Department: Development
Reports to: Director of Development
Job Summary:
The Development Associate, an integral member of the Development department is charged with working with the development staff to increase alumni awareness, participation and contributions.
 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, manage, train and staff a volunteer Class Agent program designed to engage alumni to become active members of the College community through financial and other support of College priorities.
  • Oversee operations of the endowed scholarship program; manage annual reception for donors and awardees; maintain regular stewardship reports with donors.
  • Coordinate Senior Class Gift effort and develop other fund raising strategies to reach out to recent alumni.
  • Support the Major Gift Officer with regional alumni receptions
  • Support operational aspects of the Annual Fund, including overseeing generation of pledge reminder materials, solicitation lists and donor acknowledgements.
  • Working closely with Annual Giving Director, manage student and alumni phonathons. Staff the events and recruit and train callers.
  • Assist in the organization and execution of the annual Golf Outing, Charter Award Dinner and other special events.
  • Support the operational aspects of volunteer committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least one year of experience in development or fundraising, preferably in higher education
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including excellent grammar, writing, proofreading and editing ability
  • Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office and database programs

Major Gifts Officer
The Major Gift Officer plays a key role in all aspects of fund raising and serves as the primary outreach officer for the College, spending 80-85 percent of the time meeting high-level donors. The MGO manages a portfolio of prospects and is involved in the College’s major fund raising events. Essential is the ability to understand different components of a strong development program, including annual, capital, endowment, and planned giving.  Other qualifications of this self-motivated, goal-oriented individual include: ability to work independently and with detail, strong verbal, written, communication,  problem-solving, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills; demonstrated success in relationship building and collaboration; positive attitude and sense of humor.  This is a great opportunity for an individual who has either a few years of development or transferable experience to join an energetic development team and be part of an exciting time in St. Francis College’s history.

has the following full-time tenure-track faculty positions, beginning fall 2008. For each position listed, previous teaching experience is required, as well as a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education.
 

Education, Assistant or Associate Professor: A Ph.D. and the ability to teach a variety of courses in methods and practices of Adolescent Education are required.

American and European History, Assistant Professor: A Ph.D. and the ability to teach a variety of courses in American and European history are required.

Economics, Assistant Professor: A Ph.D. and the ability to teach introductory micro and macroeconomics, as well as advanced courses in your area of specialization, are required.

Information Technology/Management Information Systems, Assistant or Associate Professor: A Ph.D. and specialization in Decision Sciences are preferred.

Management, Assistant or Associate Professor: A Ph.D. is preferred. Candidates must have an area of specialization in marketing, strategy, project management, human resources or another field. The ability to teach a variety of courses in business is required.

Nursing, Assistant or Associate Professor: A Ph.D. is preferred (area of specialization open). The ability to cover clinical, lecture, and seminar assignments is required.

Psychology, Assistant Professor: A Ph.D. in experimental psychology is required; specialization in biopsychology or social psychology is preferred.
 

Staff Positions   
 
Position: Admissions Specialist
Department: Admissions

Job Summary: Responsible for providing advanced levels of administrative and office management support.

Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Oversees functions of the admissions process and coordinates administrative responsibilities.
  • Maintains student records, completes credit evaluations, mails information packets, creates weekly tracking reports, schedules appointments, and routes phone calls.
  • Manages the admissions process for all students which includes, entering and updating student information, processing all application materials (SATs, transcripts, GEDs), and running daily process to update the application status of students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director and Dean of Admissions.
Qualifications: 
  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimal levels of experience creating documents, spreadsheets, and using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge with record keeping and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Detail oriented, self motivated, exceptional time management, organizational, and communication skills.

Technical Assistant
Department: Academic Computing
Reports to: Director of Support Services
Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 2:00pm to 10:00pm; Saturday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.
Job Summary: Provide technical support to the college’s user community.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform hardware/software installation and maintenance.
  • Escalate and contact support vendors as needed to ensure proper remediation of support tickets.
  • Assist students, faculty, administration and staff with software and hardware issues as assigned.
  • Repair and maintenance of Instructional Technology as directed.
  • Assist administrators, faculty, staff and students with use of multimedia equipment.
  • Responsible for timely logging of resolution notes for remediated issues in Helpdesk/Asset Managment system.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Director of Support Services.
  • Responsible for monitoring the helpdesk phone, voicemail, email and online support requests during evenings and weekends
  • Monitoring of evening staff and student workers
  • Create and assign helpdesk tickets to technical support staff and others in IT department
  • Responsible for closing and securing technology areas at nights and on weekends

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or above in an Information Technology related field or equivalent years of post-secondary education/training. Related experience.
  • Knowledge of Windows 2000/XP, MS Office 2003, XP, Mac OS X, printers, Palm, Blackberry Devices and Audio Visual Equipment and Internet Explorer.
  • Previous HelpDesk/Asset management software and database experience.
  • Familiarty with RedHat and Linux environments a plus.
