ASSOCIATION FOR THE STUDY OF ETHICAL BEHAVIOR IN LITERATURE
Why do we do what we do? . . . and then what? There is no simple way to explain our complex human motives, needs, and desires. But that doesn’t stop us from trying. It’s a question we always ask; of ourselves, our friends and family, celebrities and even fictional characters. As a matter of fact, this apparently simple question raises more questions, such as . . .
- What is ethical behavior?
- What are its boundaries?
- What are the implications of having the notion of ethical behavior?
- Is ethics separable from behavior?
- Is ethical behavior learned or inherent?
- How does / can a liberal arts education influence ethical behavior?
The Association for the Study of Ethical Behavior in Literature Journal helps us tackle these questions by providing St. Francis College students a forum for short, critical, analytical and reflective essays. We call these non-fiction writings, “Compact Criticisms.”
Through the ASEBL Journal we can engage in the study, analysis, explanation, and public discussion of ethical behavior, as it is manifested, particularly, in literature.
