Go Above and Beyond in the Honors Program at St. Francis College

As you want more than just a degree from your college experience and your intellectual interests reach beyond the boundaries of the classroom, the Honors Program is the right place for you.  As a student in the Honors Program at St. Francis College, you have the resources and opportunities you need to make your education everything you want it to be.
 
Amidst a peer group of exceptionally talented and intellectually curious students you can explore  a wide range of interdisciplinary topics under the guidance of  committed  faculty members imbued  with a wealth of experience. The Honors Program at St. Francis College seeks to enrich the academic sojourn and it is a preparation for the complexities of an increasingly interconnected global community.

MANDATORY HONORS EVENTS

 

Program Requirements:
  • Students are required to take 2 Freshman Honors Seminars, an additional 4 Honors Seminars and complete a honors thesis of 6 credits in their senior year.
  • Students generally take one seminar each semester
  • Presentations, papers, and projects replace tests and exams
  • Students conduct research projects, take field trips and study abroad
  • A GPA of 3.5 must be maintained
  • Students must complete 15 community service hours per semester at an approved community service location
  • Students must attend mandatory events (at least 2 of the 3 scheduled each semester), additional hours of community service will be required to compensate for non-attendance.
  • Sophomores and transfer students may apply to the honors program if they have a GPA of 3.7 and above
