Counselor-to-Student Outreach

At the Office of Freshman Studies we regularly review freshman student transcripts in order to keep track of academic performance. Since we are especially concerned with students who are experiencing academic difficulty, we reach out to them directly to offer an opportunity to work with us to develop a strategy to turnaround their academic progress and put them on the path to success.

Workshops

The Office of Freshman Studies conducts several workshops during the semesters that go more in depth on topics covered in the Freshman Seminar (SFC 1001). For example, a series of Study Skills workshops is made available to assist students in improving their study habits. The workshops provide strategies and techniques on proven study methods and allow time for students to apply these techniques.

Past Workshops Include:

  • Achieving Academic Success by Getting Organized
  • Gaining the Most From Your Textbook and Notes
  • Acing the Exam by Using Test-Taking Strategies
  • Habits of Successful Students

That's OK! Our admissions counselors office is here to help!
