Synopsis
Frank M. Sorrentino is the author of four books including American Government: Power and Politics in America, Ideological Warfare: The FBI's Path Towards Power, Soviet Politics and Education and The Review of Italian American Studies. He also served as Contributing Editor to The Italian-American Encyclopedia. Dr. Sorrentino is presently serving as a Contributing Editor to The Encyclopedia of the American Presidency where he has written twenty-one articles.
Dr. Sorrentino is currently working on a new edition of The Chief Executive with Dr. Louis W. Koenig. In addition he is also writing another new book entitled: The Presidency and The Bureaucracy, which will investigate how the Presidency attempts to influence Bureaucratic decisions in a vastly changing political environment. Dr. Sorrentino has written many articles and has consistently contributed papers to several scholarly organizations.
Dr. Sorrentino has served as Chairman of the Department of History, Political Science and Social Studies at St. Francis College where he has taught since 1978. He has received the Distinguished Faculty Award at St. Francis College and has been awarded an endowed scholarship in his honor for his outstanding teaching and scholarship.
In October 2001, Dr. Sorrentino was honored as Italian-American of the Year by the Borough President of Brooklyn. In 2004, the Student Government Association awarded him Faculty Member of the Year. He has lead several study groups abroad to Russia, The Peoples Republic of China, Italy, Greece, France and Spain.
Dr. Sorrentino is very active in community affairs, serving as Vice-President of the JL Better World Institute, Trustee and Associate Executive Director of The Italian Historical Society of America and Former Executive Council Member and Treasurer of the American Italian Historical Association.
Dr. Sorrentino is a frequent lecturer at various special events; discussing American Politics, The Presidency, Foreign Policy, Public Policy, Organizational Development, Public Administration, Constitutional Law and The Politics and Culture of Italy and The Italian American Experience.
